I’m a retired jack‑of‑all‑trades with about 30 years of experience just messing around in the yard, with the last six to eight years focused on vegetable gardening. No formal training or horticulture degree—just a whole lot of hands‑on experience, a stubborn streak, and a long history of plants teaching me lessons I never asked for or knew I needed.
I love getting dirty, trying strange or oddball ideas, and occasionally debating with vegetables that think they know better. Gardening has taught me that success comes from patience, curiosity, and knowing when to laugh at myself… usually right after something keels over for no good reason.
I've never minded tossing out the occasional idea that ruffles a few leaves. Sometimes it sparks a good conversation, sometimes it raises an eyebrow or two, and sometimes it gets people fired up—and that’s okay!
Nature isn't something set in stone; it's a dynamic environment that is constantly changing, and we are just observers watching the show. What we do affects the short term, but plants and landscapes will be here long after we're gone. Nature will always find its equilibrium and carry on despite how often we try to derail her.
With this blog, I'll try to mix solid research with gut instinct. I'll share what I’ve learned works and what I know doesn't. I'll always try to help others grow gardens that thrive… even when it goes against the common theme.
I strive to be accurate, but we all make mistakes. If you see something that seems out of place, leave a comment! I’m always happy to look into it and keep the conversation growing.
Thank you for taking the time to look into this. I hope it helps you as much as it does me.
Happy Gardening.
